An actuator prevents dust or the like from adhering to drive force transmitting means, eradicates a fear of stoppage or breakage of the means, and prevents dust or the like from outflowing. Stationary blocks (26a, 26b) are slidably provided on guide rails (18a, 18b), which constitute an actuator (10), through guide blocks (22a to 22d). Slits (88a, 88b) are defined in gaps between a top cover (84) and side covers (82a, 82b), and seal members (94a, 94b) are provided in the slits (88a, 88b). A tip end of one of the seal members (94b) engages with a stepped portion (104a or 104b) on the other of the seal members (94a) to close the slits (88a, 88b). The stationary blocks (26a, 26b) pass through the slits (88a, 88b) to protrude, and tip ends of the seal members (94a, 94b) abut against wall portions of the stationary blocks (26a, 26b) to close gaps communicating to an interior of the actuator (10).
