Abstract:
An acupuncture and moxibustion needle used for acupuncture treatment and a method of manufacturing the acupuncture and moxibustion needle. The acupuncture and moxibustion needle is securely fixed in the state of its needle body aligned with the axial center of its cylindrical needle shank and comprises the metal needle body (1) having a needle tip part formed at the tip thereof and the cylindrical metal needle shank (2) fitted to the base part (1b) of the needle body (1). The method of manufacturing the acupuncture and moxibustion needle comprises the steps of press-working the outer peripheral surface of the needle shank (2) by punches (5) and (6) having projected parts or recessed parts formed at the portions thereof for pressing the outer peripheral surface of the needle shank (2) to form fixed parts (4) and (4) having recessed and projected shapes in the longitudinal direction of the needle shank (2) and to bend the base part (1b) of the needle body (1) along the recessed and projected shapes of the fixed parts (4) and (4).
