Abstract:
An adiabatic internal combustion engine capable of increasing a thermal efficiency remarkably as compared with conventional internal combustion engines, capable of easily realizing a spark ignition adiabatic engine represented by gasoline engines and rotary diesel engines, and also capable of realizing an adiabatic engine relatively low in cost and reliable in durability, wherein a cooling loss is lowered or eliminated by insulating the combustion chamber of a reciprocating engine or a rotary engine so as to reduce fuel consumption accordingly and increase fuel economy more than conventional engines, heat resisting material is installed on the surface of the combustion chamber and insulating material is installed between the heat resisting material and an engine base material (aluminum alloy or iron) so as to enable a low cost and durable insulation, whereby the temperature of a combustion chamber wall is not increased to a high temperature (temperature beyond 850 °C) that may cause premature ignition due to insulation by providing a difference between a compression ratio and an expansion ratio so as to make an expansion ratio larger than a compression ratio or by thinning a densest air-fuel ratio or limiting the maximum amount of intake air.
