Abstract:
This adjustable valve device of an internal combustion engine is provided with: a first cam part through which a cam shaft passes, rotates together with the cam shaft, and in which a long hole is formed; a second cam part that is formed in an approximate U shape or an approximate L shape and that is supported by the first cam part in a manner so as to reciprocate between a first state at a position protruding from the outer peripheral surface of the first cam part and a second state at a position lower than in the first state; a stopper pin that is affixed to the second cam part and that penetrates the long hole; a biasing member that is interposed between the first cam part and the second cam part and that biases the stopper pin in a manner so that the second cam transitions to the first state; a lock mechanism that locks the second cam part only when the second cam part is in the first state; and a cam follower that, when the second cam part is in an unlocked state, imparts a counterforce in a manner so that the second cam part transitions to the second state. The counterforce is greater than the biasing force of the biasing member.
