Abstract:
It is intended to provide a novel agent for promoting osteogenesis and/or inhibiting bone resorption, which can be directly and orally taken over a long time in daily meals without any problems in preference, exerts effects of promoting osteogenesis and inhibiting bone resorption directly on bones and, therefore, is expected as efficacious in preventing or ameliorating/treating various bone diseases, as well as foods, drinks, drugs or feeds for promoting osteogenesis and/or inhibiting bone resorption. The above agent comprises, as the active ingredient, at least one substance selected from among β2 microglobulin, histone, complement component 3, monocyte chemotactic protein 1, lysozyme, ribonuclease, prothrombin, cytochrome P-450, plasminogen, transferrin, thrombin, plasmin, complement component 4, β defensin and enzymatic digestion products thereof. These substances have an effect or remarkably inhibiting bone resorption by osteoclasts and/or promoting osteogenesis via promotion of the proliferation and differentiation of osteoblasts.
