Abstract:
An agitator (10) includes a high strength, continuous metal axle (12), a pulley (16) held on one end of the metal axle (12) and a sleeve (14) of lightweight plastic material received over the axle (12). The agitator (10) is manufactured by molding a pulley body (16) onto an underlying metal support or D-nut (18), fitting an axle (12) into the pulley (16), molding a sleeve (14) around the axle (12) and securing a cleaning structure (22) on the sleeve (14).
