This invention is intended to prevent a user from being confused when operating a work device (2).　An agricultural work assistance system (100) comprises a coupling device (8) that couples the work device (2) to an agricultural machine (1), a control device (60) that performs agricultural work on a field by means of the work device (2) while automatically running and steering the agricultural machine (1), a first operation unit (62b) provided on the agricultural machine (1) and operated to activate the work device (2), a second operation unit (B28, B29) that can be operated to activate the work device (2) outside the agricultural machine (1), and a first detection unit (64a) that detects whether the user is riding or not riding the agricultural machine (1). When the first detection unit (64a) detects that the user is riding, the work device (2) can be activated in response to the operation of the first operation unit (62b) and operation of the second operation unit (B28, B29) is disabled. When the first detection unit (64a) detects that the user is not riding, the work device (2) can be activated in response to the operation of the second operation unit (B28, B29) and operation of the first operation unit (62b) is disabled.
