Abstract:

Provided are an air bag and an air bag device in which vent holes are closed or slightly opened before an occupant thrusts his body into the air bag and opened or largely opened after the occupant thrusts his body into the same. Inner panels (22A, 22B) are provided in the air bag (10). The vent holes (18, 18A) for allowing the inside and the outside of the air bag (10) to communicate with each other are formed in a rear panel (14). A cover member (60) covering the vent hole (18) is provided on the outer surface of the rear panel (14). The vent hole (18A) is comprised of a normally opened vent hole that is not covered by the cover member (60). A tether (70) connects the cover member (60) to the inner panels (22A, 22B) through the normally opened vent hole (18A).
