The present invention relates to the field of air conditioners, and specifically provides an air cleaning control method for air conditioners, and an air conditioner. The present invention aims to solve the problem of deteriorating indoor air quality during the operation of existing air conditioners. For that purpose, the control method of the present invention comprises: opening an air intake valve, closing an air discharging valve, and turning on an air blower; controlling an age identification module to identify the age of an indoor user; controlling, according to the identified age of the indoor user, the air blower to select and operate at different rotational speeds. By means of the control method described above, the air conditioner of the present invention can select different air blower rotational speeds according to the age of an indoor user, so as to achieve different suction efficiencies for dirty air or dirt, thereby making the air conditioner of the present invention smarter and achieving better user experience while taking into account the actual situation of the user.
