Abstract:

An operation switching unit (5), which switches the direction in which a refrigerant flows in indoor units (3) in response to switching between heating and cooling, is connected to each indoor unit (3) via indoor connection pipes (13, 14). A vapor-liquid separation unit (4) is connected to an outdoor unit (2) via outdoor connection pipes (11, 12). The vapor-liquid separation unit (4) and the operation switching units (5) are connected via two existing intermediate connection pipes (15, 16) and one new intermediate connection pipe (17). Thus, an air conditioner (1), which is capable of an operation in which heating and cooling are mixed, can be easily updated at low cost from an existing air conditioner that performs by switching between heating and cooling.
