Abstract:
The present invention relates to an air conditioner and a method for controlling the same, the air conditioner comprising: a power supply unit, which receives connected generator power, which rectifies and smoothes the same, and which supplies DC power; a voltage sensing unit for measuring the voltage of the DC power from the power supply unit; a driving unit for controlling driving of a compressor and an outdoor fan; and a control unit for recognizing an operation mode related to the generator power and setting a generator mode, the control unit determining the loading state of the generator power in response to the voltage measured by the voltage sensing unit, and the control unit conducting control, when the generator power is in an unloaded state, such that the outdoor fan operates. Accordingly, the operation is controlled by determining the loading state of the supplied power such that, when the supplied input power is in an unloaded state, any inflow of high voltage is prevented, which would otherwise damage the product, thereby improving the reliability and stability of the product.
