An easily installable air conditioner and a method of installing the air conditioner. The air conditioner (100) comprises a blowing chamber (3), a clearance closing panel (5), a radiation panel (1), and a support frame (6). The blowing chamber (3) comprises a blowout port (31) from which temperature-controlled air blows out, and is disposed so that the blowout port (31) can face an indoor (RS) side through an opening (32) for blowing chamber formed in a ceiling surface (CL). The clearance closing panel (5) is a plate-like member fixed to the ceiling surface (CL) and closing a clearance between the blowout port (31) and the opening (32) for blowing chamber formed in the ceiling surface (CL). The radiation panel (1) is disposed to cover the blowout port (31) from the indoor (RS) side, and forms a space (IS) into which air blown from the blowout port (31) is supplied. Also, the radiation panel (1) is formed of a fiber-based material having a prescribed emissivity and allowing air to permeate therethrough. Then, the support frame (6) is supportedly installed on the clearance closing panel (5) to support the radiation panel (1).
