Abstract:
A separate-type air conditioner where a heat source unit and a utilization unit are connected through refrigerant communication piping, and, in the air conditioner, a reduction in performance when the connection is made by long piping is prevented. An air conditioner (1) has a heat source unit (2), a utilization unit (5), liquid refrigerant communication piping (6) and gas refrigerant communication piping (7) that connect the heat source unit (2) and the utilization unit (5), a communication piping refrigerant cooling unit (8) connected, near the heat source unit (2), to the liquid refrigerant communication piping (6) and the gas refrigerant communication piping (7). The communication piping refrigerant cooling unit (8) has branch piping (83) that causes a part of a liquid refrigerant flowing in the liquid refrigerant communication piping (6) from the heat source unit (2) toward the utilization unit (5) to branch off from the liquid refrigerant communication piping (6) and causes the part of a liquid refrigerant interflow to the gas refrigerant communication piping (7), a branch piping expansion valve (84) for reducing the pressure of the refrigerant flowing in the branch piping (83), and a cooler (85) for cooling the liquid refrigerant flowing in the liquid refrigerant communication piping (6) by the refrigerant whose pressure has been reduced by the branch piping expansion valve (84).
