Abstract:
In the present invention, the load on a compressor during reverse-cycle operation is reduced. When reverse-cycle operation criteria are met, a cycle control unit (32a) causes an outdoor heat exchanger (23) to function as a condenser and an indoor heat exchanger (25) to function as an evaporator, and causes a refrigerant to circulate in the reverse direction as during the heating cycle. A speed control unit (32b) adjusts the speed of the compressor (21) during reverse-cycle operation in accordance with an index correlated to the amount of frost formed on the outdoor heat exchanger (23) when the reverse cycle starts. The speed control unit (32b) reduces the speed of the compressor (21) during reverse-cycle operation to the extent that the reverse-cycle-start-time index indicates little frost formation on the outdoor heat exchanger (23).
