Abstract:
This air-conditioning apparatus comprises: a compressor; a temperature detection means for detecting the temperature of the outer shell of the compressor; a thermal protector that is configured so as to supply current to the compressor and stop the current supply in response to fluctuations in the temperature of the outer shell of the compressor; and a control unit that controls the current supply to the compressor. The control unit is configured so as to stop the current supply to the compressor when the temperature of the outer shell detected by the temperature detection means becomes equal to or higher than a preset stop temperature. The thermal protector is configured so as to stop the current supply to the compressor when the temperature of the outer shell becomes equal to or higher than an operating temperature higher than the stop temperature.
