An embodiment of the present invention provides an air-conditioning system that includes an indoor unit and an outdoor unit connected by means of refrigerant piping and capable of communicating with one another, and a relay device for receiving control commands. The indoor unit has an indoor unit main control panel for controlling the operation of the indoor unit. The outdoor unit has an outdoor unit main control panel for controlling the operation of the outdoor unit. The relay device has a command conversion module for converting a trial operation command among the control commands received by the relay device into a combination of specific operation commands. On the basis of the combination of specific operation commands the indoor unit main control panel controls the indoor unit performing the corresponding combination of specific operations. The outdoor unit main control panel has a trigger module that causes the outdoor unit to operate so as to enter a trial operation mode when it has been detected that the indoor unit has performed a combination of specific operations or the indoor unit has received a combination of specific operation commands. By means of the present embodiment an operation for activating a trial operation can be performed reliably and simply.
