Provided are an air conditioning unit and an operation method. The air conditioning unit comprises an evaporator (5), a compressor and a condenser (6) provided in one common totally-enclosed container (1). A first circulation channel through which the condenser (6) provides a liquid circulation working medium for the evaporator (5) is further provided at the outer side of the container (1), and the evaporator (5) can exchange heat with the outer side in an internally indirect contact heat exchange manner while evaporating the liquid circulation working medium driven by an evaporator circulating pump (7); the compressor can suck in a low temperature gas circulation working medium produced by the evaporator (5) through a gas suction end, then compresses the low temperature gas circulation working medium, and thereafter discharge a high temperature gas circulation working medium through a discharge end; and the condenser (6) can transform the high temperature gas circulation working medium into the liquid circulation working medium in an internally indirect contact heat exchange manner.
