Abstract:

Provided is an air-cooled internal combustion engine in which a cylinder block and a cylinder head can be thoroughly cooled, and the extending portion of an exhaust pipe extending from the cylinder head, which generates a particularly large amount of heat, can be efficiently cooled. The present invention provides an air-cooled internal combustion engine in which a centrifugal cooling fan 56 is fixed to one axial end of a crankshaft 21, and a cylinder block 23 and a cylinder head 24 are enclosed by a shroud 70, wherein: a plurality of air-guiding cooling fins 82 are arrayed in parallel on an exhaust-side cylinder side surface 23D of the cylinder block 23; air-guiding grooves 83 are formed between adjacent air-guiding cooling fins 82; and in the plurality of air-guiding grooves 83, lead-in ports 83i are opened in the direction of a fan-side side edge 23Dr in the exhaust-side cylinder side surface 23D, lead-out ports 83e are opened in the direction of an exhaust-side head side surface 24D, and the lead-in ports 83i are allowed to communicate with the lead-out ports 83e.
