Abstract:
An turbine unit for air cycle refrigerating machines which stably rotates at high
rotational speed with a small gap between the disc wheel and the diffuser, has
a roller bearing having an improved long-term durability against thrust load,
has a compact size, and is free from fretting wear of the free-side roller bearing
movable in the axial direction. The turbine unit (5) for air cycle refrigerating machines
comprises a main shaft (13) on which a compressor disc wheel (6a) and a turbine
disc wheel (7a). To support the main shaft, roller bearings (15, 16) and a magnetic
bearing. The roller bearings support the radial load, and the magnetic bearing
supports one or both of the axial load and the bearing preload. An electromagnet
(17) constituting the magnetic bearing is so attached to a spindle housing (14)
that the electromagnet (17) is contactlessly opposed to thrust plates (13a,
13b) provided to the main shaft. On one side of each thrust plate, an electromagnet
target is provided; and on the other side, a permanent magnet (28aa) for a motor
rotor (28a). One roller bearing (15) is press-fitted into a bearing box (41)
or adhered. The bearing box is slidably fitted into the spindle housing. A high-viscosity
material containing an elastic sealing material is sealed in the fitting surface.
A spring for preload (26) is provided to give a preload to the rolling bearing
(15).
