Description:
AN AIR DUCT WITH TEXTILE CURTAIN

Technical Field

The invention relates to an air conditioning compartment which protects from air movements, humidity and heat the cables and electronic devices inside the air duct, where air - conditioned air coming from the air conditioning unit of passenger transportation vehicles such as bus, minibus and train are guided through, and enables homogenous heating / cooling of the passenger compartment.

Prior Art

In prior art , the air outgoing from the air conditioning unit of vehicles are pumped to the opening (air duct) formed between side roof flaps and vehicle side wall (Figure 1). Turbulences generated inside the air duct due to the nonhomogeneous cross - section and electronic devices placed inside the air duct lead to major losses in productivity. As such, it is difficult in technical terms to deliver a homogenous temperature distribution (passenger comfort). At the same time, electronic devices placed inside the air duct are negatively influenced by air temperature and humidity, therefore failing within a short time.

In the state of the art some applications are included, which are related using of textile material in air ducts in the literature. An air duct is recommended, which is arranged for distributing cooling, heating and / or air conditioning air inside the interior of a motor vehicle in application no. TR 2014 / 15170. The air duct is characterized by a textile material surrounding, at least regionally, a cross section of a main body of the air duct. Application no. TR 2020 / 03356 relates to an air duct that is connected to air conditioning units in the roof aperture and distributes air coming from the air conditioning units across the vehicle to ensure effective homogenous cooling and heating in the passenger compartments of vehicles according to applicable standards, and comprises two aluminum layers located at the outermost and innermost sections and a polyethylene terephthalate layer reinforced by textile positioned between these two aluminum layers. While in mentioned applications refer to a textile layer, they do not mention a function, whereby such layer separates the air duct into two compartments to protect the cables and electronic devices inside the air duct from air movements, humidity and heat. In addition, there is no mention of the existence of a redirector that redirects the air coming from the air conditioning unit between the curtain and the air duct cover.

Therefore, due to the drawbacks described above and the inadequacy of the existing solutions on the subject, it has become necessary to make an improvement in the relevant technical field.

Purpose of the Invention

The invention is inspired by the existing conditions and aims to solve the drawbacks explained above.

The purpose of the invention is to provide an air conditioning compartment which protects the cables and electronic devices inside the air duct, where air - conditioned air coming from the air conditioning unit of vehicles is guided through and which enables homogenous heating / cooling of the passenger compartment. For this purpose, the air duct is separated into two compartments by a curtain and a wall is provided to protect the cables and electronic devices inside from air movements (turbulence), humidity and heat. The air coming from air conditioner fans are guided between the curtain and the air duct flap by means of the redirectors to ensure homogenous heating / cooling of the passenger compartment. Since the air directed to the air duct with redirectors flows more smooth section compared to the section in Figure 1, turbulence doesn’t occur, thereby providing improved efficiency.

The below drawings and the detailed description set out with reference to the accompanying drawings provide for a clearer understanding of the structural and characteristic properties and all benefits of the invention; For this reason, the evaluation should be made by taking these figures and detailed explanation into consideration.

Brief Description of the Drawings

Figure 1 shows the air conditioning unit and air duct cross section in the current technique.

Figure 2 shows the cross section of the air conditioning compartment with the curtain air duct, which is the subject of the invention. Figure 3 shows alternative profile embodiments where the curtain can be fastened inside the air duct.

Detailed Description of the Invention

In this detailed description, preferred embodiments of the invention are explained only for a better understanding of the subject and without any limiting effect.

The air conditioning compartment, which is the subject of the invention, shown in Figure 2, air-conditions the passenger compartments of vehicles used in passenger transportation such as bus, minibus, train through the air conditioning unit (10) and the air duct (20). The air-conditioned air in the air conditioning unit (10) is pumped to the air duct (20) by means of air conditioner fans (11) to heat or cool the passenger compartment. The air coming from air conditioner fans (11) is guided between the curtain (21) and the air duct flap (22) by means of redirectors (12) to ensure homogeneous heating / cooling of the passenger compartment. The curtain (21) that separates the air duct (20) into two compartments provides a wall to protect the cables and electronic devices (26) inside the air duct (20) which are required for vehicle functionality from air movements (turbulence), humidity and heat. The air duct (20) also comprises air tubes (25) required for braking functions of the vehicle. In the preferred embodiment of the invention, said curtain (21) is manufactured from textile fabric or aluminum and textile - based material. Said curtain (21) is fastened to the vehicle frame by way of fitting / mounting to the profiles (23) mutually positioned inside the air duct (20). Figure 3 shows alternative embodiments of the profiles for quick and mechanical fitting of the curtain (21). Plastic or silicone circular profiles (24) to which the curtain (21) is fastened are fitted to the recesses formed on profiles (23) which are preferably manufactured from aluminum material.

In another preferred embodiment of the invention, the curtain (21) comprises a zipper for access to cables and devices at the back of the curtain (21 ).
