Abstract:
Disclosed is an air pump wherein vibration sounds generated in a driving portion of a pump are prevented from being transmitted to the outside through an intake passage. A casing (17) of an air pump is comprised of intake holes (26-12) which penetrate from the outer peripheral surface to the inner peripheral surface of the casing; sound deadening walls (26-9) annularly formed on the outer peripheral surface of the casing, so that the intake holes are opened in an area of the outer peripheral surface of the casing, which is surrounded by the sound deadening walls; and a closure member which closes a upper opening of the sound deadening walls, and defines a sound deadening chamber (26-14) connected to the intake holes along with the sound deadening walls and the outer peripheral surface of the casing. The sound deadening walls define therebetween a sound deadening passage (26-11) which extends in the circumferential direction of the sound deadening walls. One end of the sound deadening passage is opened on the outer side of the sound deadening walls, and the other end thereof is opened on the inner side of the sound deadening walls.
