Abstract:
In the event of an emergency, such as a vehicle collision or rollover, an inflator 6 is activated and airbags 1R, 1L are inflated. The top portion 2 of each of the airbags 1R, 1L expands above the shoulders of an occupant H, the side portion 3 expands from the shoulder to the side of the upper arm, and the front portion 4 is inflated from the shoulder to the front of the upper portion of the right or left chest. Furthermore, tethers 20, 30, 40 become taut and prevent the front portion 4 from retracting forward and the top portion 2 from retracting upward.
