Abstract:
[Problem] To provide an airbag device that contributes to the mitigation of an impact inflicted upon an occupant while minimizing the loss of inflation gas. [Solution] The airbag includes: first and second inner tethers each having a front side panel coupled to a fixing part at the periphery of the inflator and a rear-side panel coupled to the occupant side of the airbag, said first and second inner tethers restricting the deployment shape of the airbag; first and second vent holes formed on the left and right of the airbag when viewed from the occupant side; first and second opening/closing members capable of opening and closing the first and second vent holes; a first opening/closing tether having an opening/closing end coupled to the first opening/closing member, and a coupling end coupled between the front side panel and the rear side panel of the first inner tether; and a second opening/closing tether having an opening/closing end coupled to the second opening/closing member and a coupling end coupled between the front side panel and the rear side panel of the second inner tether. When the airbag is in a fully deployed state, the first and second opening/closing members are made to block the first and second vent holes by the tensile force of the first and second opening/closing tethers. When the occupant advances into the airbag, at least one of the first and second inner tethers deforms (bends or flexes) and at least one of the first and second opening/closing tethers moves towards the side of the corresponding vent hole, whereby at least one of the first and second opening/closing members opens the corresponding vent hole.
