An airbrush enabling a pencil-like hold thereof, said airbrush comprising: a central shaft in which a front and a rear thereof are prescribed; a needle extending along the central shaft, with a distal end of the needle being oriented toward the front; a hollow cylinder-shaped needle holder extending along the central shaft, with a rear end of the needle being held by a front end of the needle holder and a rear end of the needle holder being open; a paint-side connection part connected to a paint tank and disposed at the open rear end of the needle holder; a first paint flow passage formed as a needle holder internal space and in communication with the paint tank via the paint-side connection part; an inner cylinder covering the needle and the needle holder, and moving in the front-rear direction so as to be positioned furthest backward during a standby state and furthest forward during a spray state; a second paint flow passage formed as a space between the inner cylinder and the needle and needle holder; a communication flow passage for communicating the first paint flow passage and the second paint flow passage, said communication flow passage penetrating through the needle holder; an outer cylinder covering the inner cylinder; a compressed-air flow passage formed as a space between the inner cylinder and the outer cylinder; an air-side connection part connected to a compressed-air tank, said air-side connection part penetrating through the outer cylinder; an operator-holdable region prescribed as the length from a front end of the outer cylinder to a rear end thereof; and a lever for moving the inner cylinder in the front-rear direction, said lever being disposed on a front side of the holdable region and connected to the inner cylinder. The first paint flow passage, the second paint flow passage, and the compressed-air flow passage are sealed during the standby state. The first paint flow passage and the second paint flow passage are open to the outside through a space between the needle and the inner cylinder, and the compressed-air flow passage is open to the outside through the space between the inner cylinder and the outer cylinder during the spray state.
