Abstract:
The present invention relates to an alarm system for preventing lateral collisions for a vehicle, which monitors blind spots to the rear sides of a vehicle in order to prevent lateral collisions. For this purpose, an alarm system for preventing lateral collisions for a vehicle according to one embodiment of the present invention comprises: a steering-detecting unit for detecting the steering direction of a vehicle; a side-rear detecting unit for detecting other vehicles to the sides and rear of the vehicle; a blind-spot-monitoring unit for detecting other vehicles within the blind spots of the vehicle; a control unit for receiving detection signals from the steering-detecting unit and the blind-spot-monitoring unit, and determining the danger of the vehicle colliding; and a display unit for outputting the result determined by the control unit, wherein the side-rear detecting unit and the blind-spot-monitoring unit are installed on a side of the vehicle body instead of the two rearview mirrors of the vehicle, the side-rear detecting unit is configured as a CCD camera that captures a certain viewing range to the rear from one side of the vehicle body, and the captured image is displayed through the display unit. The system of the present invention configured and implemented as described above has a side-rear detecting unit and blind-spot-monitoring unit installed on the side of a vehicle body as a replacement for the side-view mirror, such that noise that enters the vehicle cabin from air turbulence when traveling at high speeds can be significantly reduced.
