Abstract:
An alcohol metabolism enhancing agent making use of a safe plant extract; and an alcoholic beverage containing a plant-derived material having no hemolytic activity and being highly safe to thereby enable reducing of any sickness from drinking and hangover. Plant extracts having the potency of enhancing alcohol metabolism have been studied, and it has been found that proanthocyanidins possess an excellent alcohol metabolism enhancing activity. Thus, there is provided an alcohol metabolism enhancing agent, comprising a proanthocyanidin. In particular, there is provided an alcoholic beverage or alcohol metabolism enhancing agent comprising a pine bark extract, optionally further comprising ascorbic acid, sesamin and an analog thereof, to thereby enable reducing of any sickness from drinking and hangover.
