Abstract:
Provided is an aldehyde production method, by which a target aldehyde can be obtained with a high degree of conversion over a long period of time. This production method produces an aldehyde by bringing a raw material gas that contains water and a primary alcohol having not fewer than 4 and not more than 18 carbon atoms into contact with a dehydrogenation catalyst that contains copper and iron so as to dehydrogenate the alcohol in the raw material gas, and the water partial pressure in the raw material gas is not lower than 0.2 kPa and not higher than 99 kPa.
