Abstract:
A reference value for detecting the initial state before a predetermined time elapses is set immediately after the vehicle begins to operate. Generally, it is considered that a driver is highly alert immediately after the vehicle begins to operate. Therefore, said reference value functions as a relatively accurate index for indicating that the driver is highly alert. Thus, it is possible to accurately determine whether or not a driver is highly alert by comparing the aforementioned reference value with the number of blinks, which functions as an index for reflecting the current state of the driver.
