Abstract:
[Problem] To provide an alkaline cell having excellent leakage resistance. [Solution] A cylindrical alkaline cell in which a positive electrode, a gel-type negative electrode containing a zinc alloy powder, a separator, and an electrolytic solution comprising an alkaline aqueous solution are accommodated within a cell container comprising an outer casing, a negative-electrode terminal plate, and a seal body; wherein the abovementioned problem is resolved by means of an alkaline cell characterized in that the seal body is made of nylon and has a water content of less than 1.5 mass percent, one end of a metal negative-electrode collector rod being electrically connected to the negative-electrode terminal plate, the negative-electrode collector rod passing through a through-hole formed in the seal body, and the other end thereof being inserted inside the gel-type negative electrode. Among the portion of the negative-electrode collector rod contacting the inner surface of the through-hole of the seal body and the portion projecting from the seal body toward the gel-type negative electrode, the surface of a portion extending at least up to 1 mm from the end part of the portion contacting the through-hole of the seal body is covered with a rubber sealing agent.
