Abstract:
Disclosed are an alkaline water electrolysis device and an operation method thereof. The alkaline water electrolysis device comprises: a water electrolysis stack; a voltage application unit; a voltage removal unit; and a control unit. The water electrolysis stack comprises a plurality of membrane-electrode assemblies, and electrolyzes an aqueous alkaline solution to thereby generate hydrogen and oxygen. The voltage application unit outputs a voltage necessary for electrolysis to the water electrolysis stack. The voltage removal unit applies an electric current to the water electrolysis stack when the water electrolysis stack is in a no-load state, and consumes and removes the residual voltage of the water electrolysis stack. The control unit controls the operation of the water electrolysis stack, the voltage application unit, and the voltage removal unit.
