Abstract:
[Problem] To maintain high fuel efficiency even during charging of a battery by driving an alternator when not decelerating, in a power supply management system wherein the battery is charged by driving the alternator during deceleration. [Solution] When deceleration is not occurring, the power generation cost of the alternator is determined from the engine rotational speed and the torque, and the alternator is driven only when the state of charge (SOC) of the battery is in a driving permission zone Z that has been determined on the basis of the power generation cost, the SOC, and the power consumption, such that the SOC decreases as the power generation cost rises, and the SOC increases as the power consumption increases. Thus, the fuel efficiency is higher than in the prior art, in which the alternator is driven continuously if the SOC is equal to or less than the maximum upper limit value SOCm, regardless of the power generation cost, which is an indicator of the engine efficiency.
