Abstract:
The altitude of a moving object, such as an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), is estimated as a function of pressure-dependent signals from a set of sensors (300-1, 300-2, 300-3, 300-4, 300-5) mounted on the object to enable them have different primary sensing orientations (N). The function may be a weighed average, and the weights in the function may be changed depending on such factors as vehicle orientation relative to apparent wind, stability of the sensed signals, and sensor failure.
