Abstract:
An aluminum alloy brazing sheet which: has a brazing filler metal that contains Si in the amount of 6-13%, with Al and inevitable impurities constituting the remainder thereof, and is provided on one or both surfaces of a core material comprising pure aluminum or an aluminum alloy; has an intermediate material that contains Bi in the amount of 0.01-1.5% and Si in the amount of 1.5-13%, with Al and inevitable impurities constituting the remainder thereof, and is interposed and cladded between the core material and the brazing filler metal, with the thickness of the intermediate material constituting 2-35% of the thickness of the brazing filler metal; and is to be used in order to braze aluminum without using a flux in a vacuum or inert gas atmosphere. Furthermore, the aluminum alloy brazing sheet is characterized in that the intermediate material and/or core material contain Mg in the amount of 0.4-6%. This invention makes it possible to provide an aluminum alloy brazing sheet capable of achieving excellent brazing properties, by quickly supplying Bi and Mg into the brazing filler metal while heating for brazing, causing elution of these elements into the molten brazing metal after the brazing filler metal starts to melt, and effectively embrittling an oxide film on the brazing filler metal surface.
