Abstract:
This sliding bearing separately bears an intake side and an exhaust side of a turbine shaft of an exhaust-turbine-type turbocharger. The material used for the sliding bearing is an aluminum alloy that contains prescribed amounts of silicon (Si), iron (Fe), copper (Cu), manganese (Mn), magnesium (Mg), zinc (Zn), and titanium (Ti) and, of other elements, no more than 0.10 weight% of each and no more than 0.15 weight% total, the remainder being aluminum (Al). In order to reduce bearing loss, the sliding bearing uses low-specific-gravity aluminum and is thereby lighter weight. The sliding bearing also improves rotational tracking, reduces turbo lag, suppresses self-excited vibration, and reduces noise.
