Abstract:
Provided are an aluminum-alloy substrate for a magnetic disk, a manufacturing method for said aluminum-alloy substrate, and a magnetic disk employing the aluminum-alloy substrate for a magnetic disk, the aluminum-alloy substrate comprising an aluminum alloy that contains Fe at 0.4 to 3.0 mass% (hereinafter, indicated as "%"), Cu at 0.005 to 1.000%, and Zn at 0.005 to 1.000%, the balance being Al and inevitable impurities, wherein the proportion (A/B) of the distribution density A of an Al-Fe-based intermetallic compound having a longest diameter that is equal to or greater than 10 μm and less than 16 μm and the distribution density B of an Al-Fe-based intermetallic compound having a longest diameter that is equal to or greater than 10 μm is equal to or greater than 0.70, and wherein the distribution density of an Al-Fe-based intermetallic compound having a longest diameter that is equal to or greater than 40 μm is equal to or less than 1 /mm2.
