Title:
ALUMINUM FOIL LIDDING AND METHOD OF MAKING THE SAME
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2023/047411
Kind Code:
A4
Abstract:
The present invention relates to an aluminium lidding foil for blister pack comprising a) a layer of aluminum foil, b) a layer of adhesive, c) and a layer of thin polymer film. The adhesive which is a solvent free adhesive is applied in between the aluminium foil layer and the thin polymer film layer. The outer surface of the aluminium foil is used for printing product details. The inner surface of the polymer film facing the aluminium foil can also be used for printing using any inks including anti-counterfeit ink. Advantageously, the polymer layer laminated to the inner surface of the aluminium foil will act as a barrier and prevent the direct contact of printing ink with the medicines / confectionery products packed in the blister pack. The thin polymer film eliminates possibility of chemical contamination into the product. Also, it eliminates the problem of residual solvents in present heat seal lacquer coated blister lidding foil.

AMENDED CLAIMS received by the International Bureau on 17 March 2023 ( 17.03.2023)

WE CLAIM:

1. A laminated lidding foil ( 100) for blister container comprising; a layer of aluminum foil (110), a layer of adhesive (120), a layer of polymer fdm (130), optionally, a primer coating is applied on one (105) or both sides (105, 125) of the aluminum foil, wherein the primer coated layers provides printing surface; wherein the polymer fdm ( 130) is thin and has a thickness in the range of 3 to 13 microns ; and the polymer fdm (130) is melted, and heat sealed on to a polymer base (150) of the blister container to provide easy push through.

2. The laminated lidding foil (100) as claimed in claim 1 wherein the aluminum foil (110) has a thickness in a range of about 18 microns to 40 microns.

3. The laminated lidding foil (100) as claimed in claim 1 wherein the polymer fdm which is the layer (130) is selected from poly vinyl chloride (PVC), polyamides, polyolefins, polyesters and laminates or materials containing at least one of these.

4. The laminated lidding foil (100) as claimed in claim 1 wherein the layer (130) which is the polymer fdm has a thickness of 5 to 10 microns.

18

AMENDED SHEET (ARTICLE 19) The laminated lidding foil (100) as claimed in claims 1 to 4, wherein the polymer fdm layer (130) and the polymer base (150) is made of same class of polymer. The laminated lidding foil (100) as claimed in claims 1 to 5 wherein the adhesive (120) is a solvent free adhesive. The laminated lidding foil (100) as claimed in claims 1 to 6 wherein the adhesive (120) is selected from vinyl and/ acrylic / polyurethane / polyol / epoxy. The laminated lidding foil (100) as claimed in claims 1 to 7 wherein the adhesive (120) is applied between the aluminum foil and the polymer film for lamination. The laminated lidding foil (100) as claimed in claims 1 to 8 wherein printing is done on aluminum foil (105) and/or interior side of the aluminum foil (125) with printing ink or anti-counterfeit security inks. The laminated lidding foil (100) as claimed in claim 1 comprising an additional layer of PET/plastic film of 10 to 25 micron above the aluminum foil (110) layer. The laminated lidding foil as claimed in claim 10, wherein the aluminum foil layer (110) is soft aluminum foil with a thickness of 7 to 15 micron. A blister package for food or pharmaceutical packaging comprising the laminated lidding foil as claimed in claims 1 to 11.
