ALUMINUM TRIANGULAR LATTICE SECTION FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF LATTICE TOWERS OF VARIOUS HEIGHTS WITH GUY WIRES
FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention refers to triangular lattice sections of various heights (i.e. two meter, three meter, six meter etc.) which are made of aluminum or a similar material in order to achieve a tower of light weight. These sections are assembled together and form lattice towers of various heights (i.e. 20, 30, 40, 44, 50, 54 or 60 meter) with guy wires in different levels. These towers are used as meteorological stations in order to measure various physical quantities (wind speed, wind direction, temperature, etc.) in different heights above ground. This type of measuring devices can measure the wind potential and/or solar radiation for assessments with regard to new wind farm installations. Another common use of these towers is the installation of telecommunication systems.
DESCRIPTION OF RELATED ART
Until today in the prior art no similar technology has ever been presented in this kind of devices. In particular, until today in the prior art the lattice towers have been made of steel, they have big dimensions and have been of heavy weight. Due to their above characteristics, their transport has been impossible without heavy trucks and cranes. In addition, the fixation of these towers on the ground requires the use of concrete which permanently affects the terrain and the soil. Due to the above their cost is high and their installation is complex.
Furthermore the geometry and the shape of most of the known towers makes them inappropriate for wind potential measurements according to the standard IEC 61400-121 , because of the use of components which affect the wind flowing through them.
The above disadvantages led me to the search of a solution to the above problems, the result of which is the present invention.
The section invented by me has the advantage that it can produce towers of great mechanical tolerance and at the same time of light weight, which do not require cranes in order to be erected or trucks in order to be transported. There is also no need to use concrete for their fixation. The assembly of the whole tower is achieved on the ground before their erection. Therefore, no workers are required to climb on them in order to assemble them. Furthermore, the shape and the morphology of the tower do not affect the equally divided flow of the wind and its measurements. The erection of the tower of my present invention is achieved by using the lever method.

DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS
According to the selected indicative embodiment of the invention, the lattice section (1) consists of three poles (2), which have an original cross section, which form an equilateral triangle and are connected together by means of connecting beams (3) which have circular cross section using stainless steel bolts (7). The use of bolts and self secure nuts makes the service of the tower very quick and easy.
The original cross section (4) is of a close hexagonal shape and consists of two flaps which enable the connection with the other components.
In order to construct a tower, several lattice sections (1) are assembled together using the connecting plates (5) and aluminum rods with holes (6) where the guy wires are attached.
The connecting plates (5) are designed in such a way in order to minimize the effect of the wind flow. Their shape is similar with a capital x. This provides to
the tower great tolerance, due to the fact that it works as two connecting beams, and enough space for the wind to flow through.
The lattice section (1) is provided with a base plate (8) with joints (9). The joint allows the erection of the tower by means of a lever (10).
The connecting beams (3) together with the poles form equilateral triangles. With this shape the tower is more stable than it is with the common Z- shape, due to the better and more equal allocation of the forces.
A pair of cross sections (11), (12) has also been designed by me, which mate with the cross section of the pole (4) and form a circle alike shape. The two parts with the cross sections (11) and (12) allow the attachment of an arm (13) in order to install the measuring devices. The pair of the cross sections (11) and (12) also allows the rotation of the arm in order to easily orientate the arm towards the direction we wish.
It should also be noted that the object of the present invention should not be limited to the above described example. The accomplishment of this invention is also possible in other constructive ways, methods, fittings and machinery within the scope of the present specification.
