Title:
AMBIENT-HYDROGEN-LEVEL ASSESSMENT METHOD AND WHITE-STRUCTURE-DAMAGE-LIKELIHOOD PREDICTION METHOD
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2020/110593
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
Provided are a method for assessing the ambient hydrogen level of a rolling device during operation and a method for predicting the likelihood that white structure damage will occur in the rolling device as a result of operation. From among the operation conditions of a rolling device comprising two rolling members, at least one of which is a steel rolling member, that are in rolling contact with each other, this ambient-hydrogen-level assessment method assesses an ambient hydrogen level that is an index indicating the degree to which hydrogen will affect the rolling device. Further, this ambient-hydrogen-level assessment method comprises a measurement step for, after the rolling device has been operated under the operating conditions, measuring the amount of hydrogen that is not diffusible at room temperature included in a region of the steel rolling member of the rolling device where rolling fatigue has been produced by rolling contact, and an assessment step for assessing the ambient hydrogen level on the basis of the measurement result of the measurement step.
