Abstract:
Provided is a very versatile ambulatory movement assistance device with a simple structure that can assist a user with ambulatory movement without making the user uncomfortable. An ambulatory movement assistance device (1, 101) comprises: an assist drive unit (2, 3, 4; 104, 114, 115) that is worn by a user U around a prescribed joint necessary for an ambulatory movement and that is configured to be able to drive so as to assist in the predetermined joint motion accompanying the ambulatory movement; an upper body movement detection unit (6, 107) that is provided on the torso of the user U and that detects displacement (Gy, Gx) of the center of gravity C indicating movement of the upper body of the user U; and a control device 5, 105 that controls operation of the assist drive unit. The control device 5, 105 estimates the phase (Φ) in the user U ambulatory movement on the basis of the detection results of the upper body movement detection unit and drives the assist drive unit at a prescribed phase.
