Abstract:

Disclosed are an analog-to-digital converter circuit, an image sensor, and an analog-to-digital conversion method. The analog-to-digital converter circuit converts an analog signal into a digital signal, and comprises a first comparator, a second comparator, and a counter circuit. The first comparator compares the analog signal to a ramp signal. The second comparator compares the analog signal to the ramp signal added with a pre-determined offset. When the ramp signal has a signal level less than the signal level of the analog signal, the counter circuit counts the number of periods of a first clock signal to generate a first portion of the digital signal; when the signal level of the ramp signal added with the pre-determined offset is greater than the signal level of the analog signal, the counter circuit counts the number of periods of a second clock signal to generate a second portion of the digital signal. The frequency of the first clock signal is less than the frequency of the second clock signal. The analog-to-digital converter circuit reduces power consumption and has an energy saving effect.
