Abstract:
In order to detect an angle of bend, a linear image projected on the surface of a workpiece is taken by an image pickup unit, and an angle of the workpiece is computed on the basis of an angle of inclination and position of the linear image projected on a picture and with reference to the data on an actual angle of inclination of a known test piece corresponding to an angle of inclination and position on a picture of the same test piece. In order to extract a representative straight line, representative image elements are determined on the basis of the distribution of brightness values of image elements in a predetermined axial direction, and a representative straight line is determined on the basis of a plurality of representative image elements. In order to extract necessary straight lines from an unnecessary straight line-containing picture, an image pickup means is disposed so that a lower metal mold member is photographed, and a second straight line from the lower end of a picture frame is extracted. In order to set an angle of bend detecting position, a bending process capable of detecting an angle of bend of a workpiece on the basis of simulation information relative to the bend condition of the workpiece in each bending step is computed.
