Abstract:
A retainer (30) is crown-shaped and has: a substantially annular ring (31); columns (32) arranged at predetermined intervals and axially protruding from the front face side or the rear face side of the ring (31); and pockets (33) each formed between adjacent columns (32). The center of the spherical surface of each of the pockets (33) is offset to one radial side from the radially intermediate position (M) between the outermost radial section (m1) and the innermost radial section (m2) of the ring (31). When viewed circumferentially, a side surface of each of the columns (32) which form the pockets (33) includes a first straight-shaped section (33b) formed so as to extend axially, the first straight-shaped section (33b) being formed in such a manner that: a part of a circular arc (33a) which connects one radial side surface of the ring (31) and the other radial side surface thereof is cut out; and one radial end of the circular arc (33a) is cut out.
