Abstract:
An anisotropic diffuser 10 according to the present invention exhibits a difference in light diffusion between the left-right direction and front-back direction when allowing incident light, which enters from an incidence surface 41, to exit from an emission surface 51 as diffused emitted light. The anisotropic diffuser 10 allows incident light, which is emitted from a light source and has a size of 3 mmΦ, to enter the incidence surface 41 perpendicularly thereto, and a luminance meter is used to assess the diffuse light distributions of the emitted light in the left-right direction and front-back direction. A ratio (MD/TD) has a portion which indicates an anisotropic diffusion of 1.4 or greater and less than 10.0, where MD [mm] represents a half length in the left-right direction and TD [mm] represents a half length in the front-back direction. The total light transmittance of the emitted light to the incident light is 70%-99% inclusive.
