Abstract:
Disclosed is a magenta dye (an anthrapyridone compound or a salt thereof), which has high solubility in water as well as color hue and definition suitable for inkjet recording, and which can provide printed matter having excellent fastnesses such as light resistance and gas resistance. Also disclosed is an ink composition containing the magenta dye. The anthrapyridone compound is represented by formula (1). In the formula, X represents a heterocyclic aromatic ring; R1 represents a hydrogen atom or the like; R2 represents a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group or the like; one or two of R4-R6 each represents a group arbitrarily selected from a sulfo group and a carboxy group, and the other(s) each represents a hydrogen atom or the like; and a-e represent the substitution positions of R4-R6.
