Abstract:
The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition for preventing, alleviating, or treating obesity, containing a chrysanthemum leaf extract as an active ingredient. By using a chrysanthemum leaf extract according to the present invention, effects of reducing body weight and body fat, reducing the size of adipocytes, inhibiting an increase in the plasma adipokine amount, increasing the rate of energy metabolism, and increasing thermogenesis have been specifically identified in a high fat diet-induced obesity animal model. In addition, even when a low dose of the chrysanthemum leaf extract is administered, an obesity inhibitory effect similar to that of high dose administration has been identified. Therefore, it is expected that the present invention can be effectively used in the alleviation, prevention, or treatment of obesity even with a low dose thereof.
