Title:
ANTI-RAM RAID DEVICE
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2019/138090
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
The present invention relates to the protection of pedestrian zones from vehicular attacks. In particular, the invention provides an anti-ram raid device comprising: three segments (1, 2, 3) comprising three adjacent vertices (6, 7, 8) of an open tetrahedron, being joined at two adjacent apices (4, 5) of said tetrahedron, such that when two vertices rest on the ground, the third projects upward, thereby redirecting the kinetic force of a vehicle striking said device back upon the vehicle. The advantage of the invention is that, unlike existing bollards, it is designed to stop and immobilize the impacting vehicle rather than simply block. Additionally, as the invention is not buried, minimal damage will occur to the pavement if an impact occurs. The invention can also further comprise additional features such a loop, along with being employed in an array to form a public protection device.
