Abstract:
Provided is an antibacterial glass mixture which, in drain water discharged from an air-conditioning system or the like, releases silver ions in a stably controlled amount and which can effectively inhibit generation of microorganisms in the drain water.
The antibacterial glass mixture shows an antibacterial effect on the basis of release of silver ions therefrom. The glass mixture comprises an antibacterial glass which renders the water alkaline when dissolves and an antibacterial glass which renders the water acidic when dissolves. The antibacterial glass which imparts alkalinity, when examined under given conditions, releases silver ions in an amount within a given range, and the antibacterial glass which imparts acidity, when examined under the given conditions, releases silver ions in an amount within a given range. The antibacterial glass which imparts alkalinity is contained in an amount of 10-100 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of the antibacterial glass which imparts acidity. The total amount of silver ions released under the given conditions is a value in a given range.
