Abstract:
An antibacterial surfactant containing in an effective amount at least one of cyclic amides represented by the following general formula; (FORMULA) (wherein R represents an alkyl group, alkenyl group, alkylaryl group, alkylarylalkyl group, hydroxyalkyl group, acyl group or hydroxy-substituted acyl group containing a total of 8 - 22 carbon atoms, R', R'', and R''' each represent a hydrogen atom or a methyl group, A represents a hydrogen atom or a hydroxy group, O (Alpha) W (Alpha) 1, O (Alpha) X + Z (Alpha) 3, O (Alpha) Y (Alpha) 3, 0 (Alpha) p + q + r (Alpha) 3, m = 1 or 2, n = 2 or 3 and, in addition, nitrogen atoms other than that of an amido group may optionally be bound to an organic acid through a covalent bond or may form an acid addition structure with an organic or inorganic acid).
