Title:
ANTICANCER DRUG-TOLERANCE INHIBITORS
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2002/072091
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
In clinical treatments of cancer, there arises a phenomenon that repeated use of an anticancer drug causes the acquisition of tolerance against the anticancer drug by cancer cells and thus the effect of the anticancer drug is weakened. Once cancer cells acquire tolerance against an anticancer drug, moreover, these cells become tolerant to a large number of other anticancer drugs (i.e., multidrug tolerance), which seriously interferes chemotherapy for cancer. Anticancer drug-tolerance inhibitors containing aminostilbazole derivatives represented by the formula (I) have low toxicity and can be orally administered. Thus, they can be safely used as anticancer drug-tolerance inhibitors. When these inhibitors are used together or formulated together into preparations with other anticancer drugs, tolerance of cancer cells against anticancer drugs can be inhibited and thus excellent anticancer effects can be established on tolerant cancer.
