Abstract:
The present invention relates to an antidepressant, anti-anxiety, anti-stress, tension-relieving or stress-relieving composition containing a fermented perilla frutescens extract. In addition, the present invention relates to a fermented perilla frutescens extract-containing composition for preventing, ameliorating, or treating stress-related disorders, depression, or anxiety. In addition, the present invention relates to a fermented perilla frutescens extract-containing fiber or fragrance composition for relieving depression, anxiety, tension, or stress. In addition, the present invention relates to a method for treating depression or anxiety, the method comprising administering a fermented perilla frutescens extract to a patient suffering from a stress-related disorder, depression, or anxiety. A fermented perilla frutescens (Perilla frutescens Britton var. acuta Kud (Chajgi), or Perilla frutescens Britton var. crispa Decaisn (Jasoyeop)) extract according to the present invention significantly relieves stress compared to an unfermented perilla frutescens extract, and thus can be used as an antidepressant, anti-anxiety, tension-relieving or stress-relieving composition, and furthermore, can be effectively used in a composition or therapeutic method for preventing, ameliorating, or treating stress-related disorders, depression, and anxiety.
